Coming Home (Home-coming)

you
plummet
mercilessly
+ ask

why can't
we

be
the corners
of
angels?
the leaks
of
rainbows?

do you remember the air
back then?
it would meet you half-way

don't believe the
hype he said
+ all the crashing
hyperventilating
neon signs + welcome
mats

you sent rain
when I sent
wanting
just at the very
moment my
heart gave way

the clouds went dark
the sky fell up
the torrents came

pang after pang
like staple guns

mending a broken
heart.

little voices
tell me
they don't
exist

the dark clouds
+ sundance
tell fractured
stories

only black sky
beats demons
frees languid arms
folds weary
shadows on
wanting bodies
like
romance
like
no other solace
like lost love found

don't forget
all the night terrors
will seem like
dreams
all the forgotten
like known

I resembled maybe
melancholy
the rain would gently touch
my ears + bring the
clouds
white + fluffy + full of
yellow sun

that rain

a hangman's curse

just so damned beautiful

you picked me off in the

distance

but I was dreaming

the air falls
triumphantly
we swim our
swarms
unblinkingly
the crystals
spilling
endlessly

the starry depths
of ocean

the white stars
with the halo
fixtures

all the stars
so thick

we threw
the stones
that sped
through ages

we were
the golden
remembers

the drench
has quered
the ground

swallowed
its' tired +
inept

the green
of water
swollen
+ bountiful

tanks in
open fields

the gorge
of spent
slaves

gift me the silence
of two small moons
a cold stretched night

let my feet remember
themselves

he tore gently
my corner bits +
revealed
in entirety the whole
night in
cinemascope
for all to
see.

I dreamt of
stars
pretty ones
with golden edges
+ shimmering angels
+ halos +
droughts of skies
endless ages
spilled
like crystal torrents
over bare shoulders
pink skin
like falling stars with
sharp edges that
sting a bit but
mostly feel like
rain

the hills
they lose their way
sometimes

the nights'
slow branches

crimson in
afterthought

stalk a
blue moon

in a marigold
night

the comets
overhead
just merely giants
your twinkling soul
not quite
heartache

pools in the
deathstar

stars in a dark
night

I will mend your soul
if you will
my heart

what small town
can save this
city roar?
too many nights
laid bare to
dark skies

+ clover fields untrodden

waiting
came to me again
we're old friends
this time we sat quietly

like the moon
we came + sat
for the sun to share
our space

all the twinkling stars
the ink
the lit stars
the blinking

we're old friends

ah the
darkest hours

the stealth
resolutely
stealing

the ground away

I walked sometimes without
my feet
without walking or finding
or giving or wrath or danger
sometimes the stars just lit my
way like halos like fire like
forest fire like furnace like burning
like icecape
+ I could melt if I wanted to
to small things + wonderings +
cold shoulders + drowning

I found solitude in windy trees
yesterday
all I could see were their tops
like spraying angels + thunderous
applause they lit my night for
my eyes + me

been so long

have you met
night?
not today
he's lost on me
had him in my pocket
once
but I let go
it's dark without night
all the crimson owls
with yellow eyes
be they possums

that dark night
yeah

he's moved on

starry nights
cold as crisp laid
frozen forests
of everglade
midnight dawns
+ shadows rise
fallen angels
+ starry nights

let us
creep
the night
between
us

let us
the night

the night's warm shoulders
will not take my weight tonight
I'm heavy heart

a pool of stars swimming
around me
shark's teeth + halo nets
+ brimming

can you
hear
tranquility
bursting
loud + formidable?

a stranger's son
coming home
